Musings of a Housewife: Christmas Weddings

In our household the end of December gets a little crazy-busy. While most people focus on Christmas or perhaps Hanukkah, our family has 2 good friends birthdays the week before Christmas and 2 daughters birthdays, one Grandparent birthday and one sister-in-law birthday all the week after Christmas. The one thing we don't have during this month is anyone's weddings or anniversaries. This got me pondering Christmas weddings and while I think it would be stressful to plan both Christmas and a wedding at the same, I have to admit that the possibilities for breathtakingly beautiful decor, dress and flower ideas is amazing.

As a huge fan of white roses, lilies and dark burgundy red roses, a Christmas wedding would be the perfect time of year for me to have chosen - except of course it would not have worked out with our plan to marry and relocate to California in time for my new husband to start school in September. This is why we chose July. However, from the wedding invitations to the flower arrangements an ivory and deep red wedding could be incredible. However! I realized, as I sit here and munch on a sugar-free vanilla wafer and sip my coffee that celebrating your Anniversary every year would be burdensome. Everyone and their mother are traveling over the holidays so taking a trip would be stressful whether you are traveling by car, air or train. Secondly, it would be hard to find babysitters or people to celebrate with as everyone is so busy during the Christmas break. In the end I think I'm happy I chose July over December... although I still think red and white bouquets are the most beautiful of all.
