It's not all About Food, sometimes it's about the table setting.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two times of year when most people put away their stoneware and pull out the china. Not me. As a busy Mom with small children, I put away the china years ago and started to purchase decorative paper plates, napkins and even cups. Not because of I was afraid they would get broken, but because I found that the enjoyment of spending time with family after dinner was better spent playing board games than doing dishes!
I don't think I'll always do it this way though. As the kids get older and turn into adults I am pulled towards using the china again... especially if I have volunteers to help with the dishes! I hope to one day have beautiful Pfaltzgraff dinner plates and dinnerware in one of their Christmas patterns. I envision a beautiful table set with a centerpiece of white and roses and votive candles between the flowers and settings.
