Oreo Cookies Celebrate 100 Years!

They look pretty good for being 100 years old right?

Yesterday was the 100th birthday of the Oreo.  The cookie many love to eat 'inside out' by licking the frosting first and then crunching the cookie.

If you want to help celebrate, their website offers you a chance to share your own Oreo moment, send a bag of Oreo Cookies through an Oreo Gram to someone you love (or like) and even send a customized video message from Lady Antebellum.

I know I'm in the minority when I say I've never cared for Oreo's myself, but my husband and teenagers do.  A couple months ago I was looking at Pinterest and saw Oreo Bars.  I knew this was something my family would enjoy so I put the recipe down in my 'some day' files.  It just so happens I was planning on making Oreo Bars this weekend, as my brother and his wife and 3 teenage boys will be visiting from out-of-state and I thought this was something they would enjoy.  What great timing!  My plan to make Oreo Bars teamed up with the 100th Birthday of the Oreo Cookie.

The perfect morning recipe post!

1 - 16 oz package of Oreo
5 cups large marshmallows
4 T butter

Grind Oreo's in a food processor with an S-blade until crumbs.  Melt marshmallows and butter in a large bowl in the microwave about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes until large and puffy in size.  Mix in the Oreo crumbs.  Pour into a buttered 8X8 inch pan.  Let set about 10 minutes and then cut to size and eat just like you would a Rice Krispy Bar.
